Yin Yi (Sound Engineer, Composer, Sound Artist)
Yin Yi, who was born in Shanghai in 1978, is one of China’s leading new-generation sound artists. He founded BM Space in Shanghai (www.bmspace.org) and has worked as a sound engineer and composer on national and international projects – for instance with the dancer Zuhe Niao (Shanghai), the Rubato dance company (Berlin), and the Contemporary Dance Company of Guangdong.
Yin Yi also regularly appears as a sound artist with his own projects. In recent years, he has been focusing his activities on music and soundscape performances.
In his work as a curator, Yin Yi was responsible for Format (a sound-art installation), Sonic Transmission (an exchange project between artists from Hong Kong and Shanghai), and Co-Sound (a sound performance festival in Shanghai).
